LBS announces leadership appointment to strengthen Family Enterprise offerings

London Business School (LBS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rhian-Anwen Hamill as Director of Family Enterprise at the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Private Capital (IEPC). This appointment reflects IEPC’s commitment to supporting multigenerational family businesses and strengthening the community around them worldwide.

Family enterprises are central to the global economy. In the UK alone, more than five million family firms employ over 13m people. In the Middle East, they contribute 60 per cent of GDP and account for more than 80 per cent of jobs. Defined by purpose, legacy, and long-term impact, family businesses face distinctive challenges as they evolve, balancing innovation with continuity, growth with stewardship.

Under Rhian-Anwen Hamill’s leadership, IEPC’s Family Enterprise initiatives will address these challenges through research, teaching, and peer-led engagement. She brings two decades of experience as a senior advisor to global families, having worked internationally with private partnerships, family collectives, FTSE-listed companies, and large charities. She is widely published on family business issues, from succession planning to family office recruitment, and her expertise will play a key role in shaping IEPC’s work in this space.

Key initiatives include the Family Office Conference, which provides a a confidential setting for executives to engage in joint learning ; the Family Enterprise Mentoring Programme, which connects students and alumni with experienced family business leaders; and the CFO Private Business Forum, which brings together CFOs and Finance Directors to address the unique challenges of private businesses.
