"In my job I am in charge of large corporations, we give them credit facilities. So I study their financial statements, income statements, value sheets and cash flows and make an opinion based on their performance. I joined this course to learn more about financial statements and build my confidence as I move up the career ladder.
I have taken a lot of training courses in Saudi but I thought it would be more beneficial to try an external course.
The biggest asset for me was the professor – Chris Higson. He loves what he is doing and is just amazing when it comes to numbers and financial statements. He delivers the message perfectly and had my attention the whole time.
The difference with my bachelor’s degree is that this is someone who works with companies and large corporations and advises them on what to do and what not to do. So he brings something from the real world and it helps you relate to it. “The examples and the material were easy to understand and not too complicated. Also the interaction with the other people in the classroom was very meaningful. The programme served the purpose perfectly.
One of the key messages was to see beyond the numbers. There was an example the professor showed us where a company was reflecting more assets than it had and then at the end of the day you find out the company is not actually worth what it says it is worth. So you do have to question things.
I’m already looking at other corporate finance programmes at the school."
